The Cruise terminal lies on the left bank of the river Maas in Rotterdam and occupies one of the most beautiful riverside spots in
View over the river, the skyline and the elegant Erasmus bridge. The location of the Cruise Terminal Rotterdam is an attraction in itself! The
former arrival and departure of the Holland America Line is a industrial heritage. The building is characterized by 6 arcs. You will be excited at the
sight of the Cruise Terminal as you approach the Erasmus Bridge. Through the monumental area on the first floor where the Doll & Teddy Bear
Fair will take place you can enjoy the spectacular views of the Rotterdam skyline.
From 1873 to mid 1970 the Wilhelminakade was dominated by the Holland America Line (HAL). Known steamships as "The Rotterdam", the
"Nieuw Amsterdam" and "Statendam" brought in this period thousands of passengers from Rotterdam to New York and back. The current Hotel
New York (across the street) was in that time the headquarters. In the Cruise Terminal Rotterdam were the arrival and departure halls. With the
growing popularity of flying disappeared HAL in the 70's. Currently there are (since 5 years) again cruise ships coming and going to this terminal.
Around the Cruise Terminal are several parking lots. Parking is on the whole Wilhelminakade paid. Price is € 3.00 per hour (2012). Within
walking distance there is the possibility to park for free (details follow).
